The peak of my popularity was in 1988.
He continues his active creative work, touring and participating in television shows. The artist performs concerts (performances are scheduled in St. Petersburg and Kolomna in April 2026), and also appears on programs (for example, "Catch Me If You Can"). In his personal life, he lives in his house in Krasnogorsk, and his relationship with his daughter Michelle has normalized after the scandals.
Alexander Serov was born in 1951 in Kovalivka, Mykolaiv region. He has been interested in music since childhood — he played the alto in the school orchestra and taught himself to play the piano. After school, Serov graduated from the Mykolaiv Music College with a clarinet degree, and then went into the army. During this time, he played in the orchestra of the Officers' House of the Mykolaiv garrison.
Since 1973, the musician began collaborating with ensembles and orchestras: he worked as a vocalist-instrumentalist in the Krasnodar "Iva" and the VIA "Singing Youngsters" in Mykolaiv, and then became the artistic director of the musical groups "Svitiaz" of the Volyn Regional Philharmonic and VIA "Cheremosh" in Chernivtsi, where the sisters of Sofia Rotaru, Lydia and Aurika, sang. During this period, Serov released a composition with Olga Zarubina titled "Cruise," which quickly gained popularity, and then sang with Tatyana Antsiferova the song "Intercity Conversation."
In 1983, the musician received an award at a song contest in Yalta, after which he moved to Moscow and became a participant and host of the musical program "Wider Circle." In the next 20 years, Serov released his main hits — the songs "Madonna," "I Love You to Tears," "You Love Me," "How to Be," "Wedding Music," and "Suzanna."
"The peak of my popularity was in 1988. At that time, I performed in stadiums and sports palaces, fans would rush out by the thousands, tearing my clothes. Sometimes I had to escape through fire escapes, through emergency exits," the musician said in an interview.
At that time, Serov's songs were known throughout the country, but closer to the 2000s, his popularity began to decline. Nevertheless, he continued to work on new compositions, released several more albums, and still gives concerts.
Unlike his career, Alexander Serov's personal life has not been as successful. In 2010, he divorced his only wife Elena Stebeneva, with whom he had a daughter, Michelle. Serov accused his ex-wife of betrayal and said he harbored deep resentment towards her.
