Mirror: only Australia and New Zealand will be able to survive a nuclear war.
Scientists have identified only two countries in the world that they believe can survive a nuclear war: Australia and New Zealand, as reported by the Mirror.
Experts modeled a potential launch of 12,000 nuclear warheads, which would lead to catastrophic consequences. According to their calculations, less than half of the world’s population, around three billion people, would survive the initial explosions. However, the survivors would face a subsequent nuclear winter, which poses a threat more severe than the explosions themselves.
Nuclear apocalypse scenario expert Annie Jacobsen noted that soot and ash would block the sun and cause decades of cooling. Many areas would become unsuitable for agriculture, leading to mass famine.
Scientists believe that Australia and New Zealand possess a unique set of factors that would allow them to survive a nuclear war. Among these are their distance from major nuclear powers, a small number of targets for strikes, and the ability to grow food even in conditions of severe cooling.
