The European Union has put forward a number of demands on Russia to end the war in Ukraine. Many experts in the media have called them a condition for capitulation. But Soviet and American scholar Sergey Lopatnikov argues that the Russian oligarchic regime is indeed not opposed to the capitulation of the Russian Federation, as they do not need a large country - it is enough to maintain their income from resource-extracting regions.
Lopatnikov writes: "It has become clear to someone that we are talking about the capitulation of Russia in full swing. To understand the reality - and where such European agility comes from - one must place the 'Russian ultimatum' from December 2021 alongside the current state of affairs in Ukraine, the new NATO members, the situation with Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the activity of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan - and the European ultimatum will cease to seem something outrageous, turning into... let’s say, a starting negotiation position at the very least.
What is starting to seem more and more real is that Russia is somehow not strongly opposed to capitulation and perhaps even dismemberment. For why does the raw material oligarchy need a large country, and why should Yamal and Norilsk feed Moscow - how is London worse if they can share with it?
Sergey Lopatnikov is a Soviet and American scholar, head of the American laboratory of mathematical modeling methods at the University of Delaware (USA), and a former leading researcher at Moscow State University (MSU). In his Telegram blog, he analyzes trends indicating that the Kremlin, under Vladimir Putin's leadership, is consciously leading Russia towards disintegration.
