The Grand Prix of the Latvian Music Award in Metal Music this year was awarded to the band "Skyforger," recognized as the best band of the year, representatives of the award told the LETA agency.
The awards for the best metal recordings and performers of 2025 were presented on Friday in five categories: debut of the year, concert group, metal album and mini-album of the year, as well as a recording in the genre of "hc" / alternative / experimental metal. The results were determined by the jury's evaluations and audience voting.
"Skyforger" was also recognized as the concert group of the year. Last year, the band celebrated its 30th anniversary with concerts at the "Xiaomi Arena" and the "Palladium" concert hall, and released the album "Teikas," which is also nominated for the Latvian Music Award of the Year "Zelta mikrofons." The musicians are currently on a European tour, so they will receive the Latvian Music Award of the Year in Metal Music in the form of a saw disk later.
The album of the year in metal music was recognized as the work of the band "Varang Nord" titled "Mygla," while the mini-album of the year was the work of the band "Eremos-IX" titled "Marquis Of Snakes." In the alternative metal category, the winner was the album "Call Of The Baltic Void" by the band "Nettletie," and the debut of the year was the band "Uguns."
The ceremony for the Latvian Music Award of the Year in Metal Music took place this year for the 15th time. Its initiators are representatives of the association "Zobens un Lemess" and the club "Melnā Piektdiena," which have been organizing heavy music events since 1996.
