Doctor Alexander Olmos stated that due to an improper dinner, the body will experience stress during sleep instead of recovering. His words were reported by the publication Deia.
For a good night's sleep, Olmos urged to avoid consuming sausages and other processed meats for dinner, as these products disrupt the balance of gut microflora and hinder melatonin production. Carbohydrates eaten at dinner, such as bread, rice, and pasta, lead to sharp spikes in blood sugar levels, which negatively affect the quality of nighttime rest, the doctor warned.
The doctor also advised against sweets in the evening, as sugar increases cortisol levels in the blood and, like processed meat, hinders melatonin production.
To sleep well, Olmos recommended consuming quality protein and vegetables in the evening. Such a dinner not only helps in the fight against insomnia but also reduces chronic inflammation in the body, the doctor added.
