The extravagant Bozhena Rynska is complaining about our Latvian “real Russian” winter. She writes on her Facebook:
Well, it's just everyday life. It hasn't been this harsh of a winter in Latvia for about 15 years. Usually, it freezes for 10 days. And winter always gives you a break. This year, it has been freezing all of January and February. The night before last, it was minus 23. The house isn't built for that. And then there was a flood at night. The pipe froze. Something burst. And the entire first floor — carpets, the study, good parquet — ended up in water. The parquet is swollen. The carpets are soaking wet; I need to call people to take them for cleaning, they won't dry on their own. The house smells like sewage, and I have a preference party today, just my luck. Thank God, my housekeeper helped. But still, I didn't do my hair, didn't go to singing, and didn't go to fitness.
Today it's minus 5, but in two days, it will freeze again and stay that way until the end of February.
Damn Baltic. I should have gone to Paris.
