A picket against Latvia's participation in the 'Eurovision' alongside Israel will take place

This evening, during the 'Supernova' song contest at the Riga Film Studio, a protest will be held against Latvia's participation in the international song contest 'Eurovision' alongside Israel, reported LETA agency by the representative of the protest organizers, Metra Saberova.

The action will begin at 20:00 and last for about an hour. Similar protests are also planned for February 7 and 14 during the broadcasts of 'Supernova'.

The protests are being organized jointly with movements in support of Palestine in the Baltic countries, demanding that the broadcasting companies of Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania refuse to participate in 'Eurovision-2026' if Israel takes part in the competition.

The protesters will also call on musicians to refuse to participate in the regional selection stages of 'Eurovision', and on the culture ministers of the Baltic countries to 'make public statements condemning the genocide and war crimes committed by Israel'.

In December 2025, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) announced that Israel would participate in 'Eurovision-2026' after the EBU General Assembly approved new rules and refused to hold a vote that could have led to Israel's exclusion from the competition.

According to a representative of the protesters, Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain, and Slovenia have announced their refusal to participate in 'Eurovision'.

The protest is organized by the 'For a Free Palestine' movement in collaboration with the 'Jews for Peace' society.
