In the Philippines, a woman mistook Shrek for Buddha and prayed to him for four years. She also stated that she will continue to offer prayers to the animated figurine, seeing no difference.
A resident of the Philippines has been worshipping a Shrek figurine for several years and has no plans to stop. This was reported by the South China Morning Post.
Four years ago, the woman bought a green figurine of the plump creature with Shrek's head. She mistook it for a Buddha statue, placed it on her home altar, and prayed to it daily.
A friend of the woman noticed the unusual color and strange facial features of the figurine. Upon closer inspection, it turned out that it was 3D-printed and depicted not Buddha, but the main character from the animated film "Shrek."
According to the woman, the discovery did not upset her, as she believes that the sincerity of prayer is more important than the appearance of Buddha. She laughed and added that she intends to continue worshipping this figurine.
