Allegations Against Julio Iglesias: Former Employees Claim Sexual Assault

82-year-old Spanish singer Julio Iglesias has been accused of sexual harassment and assault by two former employees. The women claim they were subjected to unacceptable touching, humiliation, and physical pressure during their time working for the artist in 2021.

Essence of the Allegations

According to an investigation by elDiario.es and Univision Noticias, Iglesias' housekeeper and physiotherapist filed a complaint with the National Court's prosecutor's office, accusing the singer of:

  • coercion into sexual contact;
  • creating unfavorable working conditions;
  • crimes against sexual freedom and integrity;
  • human trafficking for the purpose of forced labor.

According to the women, the incidents occurred at the artist's residences in the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic. They reported facing daily harassment, insults, and psychological pressure, sometimes involving other staff members.

Personal Stories

  • Rebecca reported several instances of sexualized violence, including penetration, and stated that she felt like "an object, a slave."
  • Laura recounted that the singer touched her against her will on the beach and by the pool, pulled her hair, and created an atmosphere of intimidation among the staff.

Both women emphasized that Iglesias "normalized violence," which is why they decided to go to court and share their stories.

Additional Information

Journalists interviewed 15 former employees of the singer who worked for him from the late 1990s to 2023. Iglesias himself has not yet commented on the allegations.

Julio Iglesias is one of the most successful Spanish-speaking performers, the father of eight children, including Enrique Iglesias, and the husband of Russian tennis player Anna Kournikova.
