On the occasion of the announcement, the streaming platform released a short teaser: in the frame, Emily blows out a candle with the number 6 placed on a croissant, sitting on a terrace overlooking the Eiffel Tower. This gesture only fueled fans' expectations and hinted that Paris would once again play an important role in the new episodes.
However, the plot may go beyond the French capital. In the finale of the fifth season, Emily receives a postcard from Gabriel in Greece along with an invitation to visit him. This has led to speculation that in the new season, Lily Collins' character will swap the Parisian streets for sunny Greek landscapes.
Netflix has not yet announced the exact premiere date for the sixth season, but fans of the series can already be sure that Emily's stylish adventures are far from over.
Many French critics condemned the show for demonstrating negative stereotypes about Parisians and the French. Charles Martin wrote in Première that the French are unfairly stereotyped in the series and portrayed as "lazy people who never come to the office in the morning... flirtatious and not really attached to the concept of loyalty... are sexist and backward, and have a questionable attitude towards taking showers."
