Sex coach Rich Yuzvyak gave advice to a woman who hates her changed sweat smell after 40.
A letter from a reader and the response from a specialist was published by the American publication Slate.
The woman complained that she has been sweating much more in recent years than before, and she feels that her sweat smells very unpleasant. "My husband claims that he likes everything. But I can smell it, and it disgusts me. I talked to a doctor, had a blood test, and she said that nothing is wrong. She believes that these changes are related to perimenopause," she said. The author of the letter also added that she and her husband used to have a normal sex life, but after these changes, during intimacy, she can only think about how she smells terrible.
In response, Yuzvyak urged the woman to trust her husband. "Many not only don’t mind body odor, some even like it," he said. The coach also advised her to figure out what exactly is causing her disgust: her own smell or what her husband perceives. "If it’s the latter, perhaps it’s worth trusting your partner and having sex so he can prove to you that he doesn’t mind the smell. Sometimes experience is all it takes to overcome what makes us uncomfortable," he suggested.
