Is Latvia to Blame? Dolina Warned of Risk of Losing Two More Apartments

Lawyer: Dolina may lose two expensive apartments in Latvia.

Singer Larisa Dolina may lose two apartments in Latvian Jurmala with a total value of over one million euros (or 95 million rubles). This was warned by lawyer Alexander Benkhin.

The lawyer reminded that the star cannot manage her property due to sanctions. Dolina's apartments have been frozen, which means she is unable to pay utility bills or sell the property.

"As debts for utilities accumulate, the operating company or municipality may, after a certain period of non-payment, file a lawsuit and confiscate the property for debts," Benkhin explained. He added that the Latvian parliament is discussing the possibility of nationalizing the property of Russians who are under sanctions.

At the same time, Dolina cannot pay off debts or sell the property through third parties either — this is considered a criminal offense. According to the lawyer, in such a situation, the singer can only sue the state and try to lift the sanctions by proving their unjustness.

"A costly European lawyer is needed, but officially she cannot pay for it, and unofficially — this is again a criminal offense. The fees there are measured in tens, if not hundreds of thousands of euros. There are special lawyers in Latvia who have licenses to work with sanctioned clients, but they are few," noted Benkhin.
