Gastroenterologist: smokers should give up coffee on an empty stomach.
Gastroenterologist Ekaterina Kashukh listed two harmful habits for the gastrointestinal tract. One of the harmful habits for the gastrointestinal tract she named is drinking coffee on an empty stomach.
The doctor clarified that it can be dangerous for people who have a Helicobacter pylori infection or inflammation in the duodenum. In addition, she urged smokers and those taking painkillers to give up coffee on an empty stomach. However, if these problems are absent, this drink will not cause harm, the gastroenterologist assured.
The second harmful habit is excessive enthusiasm for fast food, snacking on the go, and chaotic eating, where a person satisfies their hunger with chips, chocolate bars, or fries instead of a full meal. Kashukh explained that this type of diet disrupts the production of digestive enzymes and provokes uneven stress on the gastrointestinal tract.
"There are no special winter rules for healthy eating. There are principles that are useful to follow all year round," concluded Kashukh.
