Alan Badoev — why he doesn't want his children to return to Ukraine

The director explained that he does not wish for his children to see the war with their own eyes and strives to remain a 'quiet rear' for them, even when he himself is in the center of events.

Alan Badoev, a renowned music video director and filmmaker, spoke about living apart from his children during the war and explained why he doesn't want them to return to Ukraine. According to him, most of his time is spent working on documentary projects in the country, making family meetings rare and invaluable.

Emotional Reunions

Badoev notes that every meeting with his children is extraordinarily emotional: they literally do not leave his side during visits. "I only leave with 'Long Days' or other military themes when I need to raise funds. Of course, all the kids immediately walk with me in a 'duck line' because it’s the only opportunity to see each other," the director said on the air of the program 'Closer to the Stars'.

Why He Doesn't Want to Bring Them Back

Badoev's children have been living abroad for a long time. The director stated that he does not intend to risk their safety and does not want them to witness the hostilities. "Well, I am a normal father. Why should they see this? I don’t want that," he explained his decision.

Family and the Role of 'Quiet Rear'

Alan Badoev has a 20-year-old daughter, Lolita, from his marriage to television presenter Zhanna Badoeva; the director also raised Zhanna's older son, Boris, as his own. Despite the divorce, he tries to provide both children with support and stability, remaining a 'quiet rear' even when he himself is busy with hot projects.
