In Brazil, a newborn arrived holding a spiral: the mother became pregnant despite contraception.
An unusual case occurred in the city of Nereopolis (Brazil): a child was born in one of the local clinics, gripping… an intrauterine device. A photograph of the newborn holding the contraceptive in its fist quickly went viral on social media.

The baby's mother had the device inserted two years ago, relying on its reliable protection. However, she became pregnant, and the device, contrary to its purpose, remained in the uterus throughout the pregnancy.
The snapshot of the baby was accompanied by an ironic caption:
"I hold in my hands the proof: this thing didn’t work for me."
Despite such a rare situation, both mother and child are doing well. Doctors describe the case as unique, emphasizing that pregnancy with an intrauterine device is possible, although it is extremely rare.
