The Ray of a Tragic Era

This is how the educator and literature enthusiast Lyudmila Bychkova named her literary and artistic composition. She dedicated it to the talented and suffering poet Osip Mandelstam, who turned 135 years old this year since his birth. He was born on January 14, 1891, in Warsaw and completed his earthly journey in Vladivostok. It is undoubtedly interesting for us that in his childhood, the future poet repeatedly visited Riga, where his grandparents lived on Avotu Street.

The presentation of this bright and moving composition at the International Center-Museum of Vladimir Vysotsky, located in the Baltic International Academy, was organized by the amateur club of poetry and music lovers "Green Lamp."

The composition was well complemented by the story of writer and head of the Riga Armenian community Alexander Geronyan about Mandelstam's journey to Armenia, a message from the head of the "Green Lamp" club, Nina Vevere, about the publication of a new book by the poet titled "Your Face is More Tender than Tenderness," and a performance by poetess and bard Evgenia Oshurkova, who sang the song "Shell," written to the verses of Mandelstam, as well as works from the poet's first book "Stone," which were read by BMA associate professor and curator of the International Center-Museum of Vladimir Vysotsky Lyubov Kashirina.
