At the end of August, exchange tours of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet and the Vanemuine National Theatre (Tartu, Estonia) will take place. The program aims to develop cooperation between the theatres of the Baltic countries and will give audiences the opportunity to get acquainted with opera and ballet productions created in neighboring states.

The tours of the Vanemuine Theatre will allow audiences to see two different yet equally high-quality stage productions over one weekend.

On August 28, the Latvian National Opera will present the performance "A Little Prayer. Dedication to Arvo Pärt" by Czech choreographer Petr Zuska. The production is inspired by the music of the world-renowned Estonian composer Arvo Pärt and represents a poetic, spiritually rich reflection on the inner world of a person — life and death, love, faith, and hope. The performance organically combines dance, music, and dramatic action, creating an emotionally powerful and visually exquisite stage statement.

On August 29, audiences can expect the opera "Julius Caesar" by Georg Friedrich Handel — one of the most striking works of the Baroque era. In the production directed by Elmo Nüganen, the story of power, intrigue, and unexpected love between Cleopatra and Caesar receives a dynamic and spectacular stage embodiment. The visual image of the performance is created by set designer Kristians Suits and costume designer Kristine Pasternak. The musical director of the Vanemuine Theatre, Risto Joost, will conduct both productions.

Meanwhile, on August 25 and 26, the Latvian National Opera and Ballet will perform at the Vanemuine Theatre in Tartu, presenting Gaetano Donizetti's opera "The Elixir of Love" and the ballet "Carmina Burana" by choreographer Edward Klug to the music of Carl Orff.
