Horror has never been boring, but 2026 promises to turn everything upside down. Here will be stories that will make your heart race, make you doubt reality, and jump in place from unexpected terror. From dark psychological thrillers to epic legends with ancient beings — the new season is ready to surprise, scare, and amaze.

We present the most anticipated horror films that are definitely worth following this year.

"Undertone" (Undertone, March)

The plot focuses on Evangeline, a host of a paranormal podcast, who cares for her comatose mother. Evangeline is skeptical about supernatural stories, while her friend Justin is convinced that some phenomena are real. Everything changes when a young couple sends recordings of supposedly supernatural events — and Evangeline's usual understanding of the world begins to crumble. The film's feature is its attention to sound and atmosphere: fear creeps in gradually rather than attacking with loud jump scares.

"Ready or Not 2: Here I Come" (Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, March)

The first part ended brightly and spectacularly, but for the heroine Grace, this is just the beginning. In the second film, she will face even more dangerous trials. Her sister Faith is by her side, and together they fight for leadership in a mysterious council that governs the world. Iconic actresses and actors will appear in the film: Sarah Michelle Gellar and Elijah Wood. The new horror promises a combination of adrenaline and dark humor.

"Obsession" (Obsession, May)

This independent film has already conquered festival audiences and received 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. The story tells of a man who wished for a beautiful woman to fall in love with him. As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for. The film contains a lot of violence — several scenes had to be cut to secure an R rating instead of NC-17. Despite a budget of only 1 million dollars, the film makes a strong impression and elicits a lively response from viewers.

"Hokum" (Hokum, May)

Director Damien McCarthy, known for the horrors "Oddity" (2024) and "Caviat" (2020), takes us to secluded Ireland. The main character, a reclusive writer (Adam Scott), arrives on an island to scatter his parents' ashes. There, he encounters a mysterious witch, and the dark atmosphere of Irish inns creates the foundation for a tense and eerie narrative.

"Werwulf" (Werwulf, December)

For those seeking horror in the spirit of folklore epics, Robert Eggers takes us back to 13th century Europe, where a mysterious creature wreaks havoc. Eggers co-wrote the script with Icelandic poet and writer Sjón. Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Lily-Rose Depp, and Willem Dafoe, the film promises to be visually stunning, with meticulously crafted choreography and cinematography by Jarin Blaschke.
