The legendary British band The Cure is preparing to give long-awaited concerts in Lithuania and Estonia for the first time. The performances will take place on August 7 in Vilnius, at Kalnu Park, and on August 9 in Tallinn, at the Unibet quarter, marking an important event for fans across the Baltic region, as one of the most influential bands in alternative music returns to the Baltics. Previously, The Cure had performed only once in Riga.

The Cure is one of the most recognized and enduring bands in the history of modern music. Since their formation in 1978, they have released a number of critically acclaimed albums and have become a symbol of innovation in alternative and gothic rock. For nearly five decades, their influence continues to be felt among different generations of musicians and listeners.

The band was formed in Crawley, England, and is led by the iconic frontman and vocalist Robert Smith. For almost fifty years, The Cure has shaped the sound and spirit of alternative rock, post-punk, and gothic rock. Their debut album "Three Imaginary Boys" was released in 1979 and received positive reviews from critics, solidifying the band’s place in the post-punk and new wave genres.

Known for their atmospheric soundscapes, emotional depth, and powerful live performances, they have created a global army of fans through such iconic albums as "Disintegration," "Wish," and "Bloodflowers."

Their latest studio album "Songs of a Lost World," released in 2024, is the first new material in 16 years and has received widespread critical acclaim. The record highlights the band’s signature melancholic intensity, exploring themes of loss, mortality, and reflection, reaffirming their leading role in alternative music. "Songs of a Lost World" also brought the band their first Grammy Awards - for Best Alternative Music Album and Best Alternative Performance for the single "Alone."

Throughout their career, The Cure has released 14 studio albums, several live recordings and compilations, as well as over 40 singles, selling more than 30 million copies in total. They have performed nearly 2000 concerts - both solo and at festivals. They also have several concert films and soundtracks to their credit. It is no secret that Robert Smith's visual style inspired one of director Tim Burton's most iconic films - "Edward Scissorhands." After the film's release, Smith collaborated with Burton on other projects.

The Cure has been honored with numerous prestigious music awards, including the Brit Award, MTV Music Video Award, Ivor Novello Award, and others. In 2019, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

These achievements highlight an important milestone in the band's career, reflecting both its longevity and creative relevance decades after its founding.

The upcoming concerts in the Baltic countries promise an extensive program covering the band’s rich repertoire. Known for their captivating live performances, The Cure continues to captivate audiences around the world, blending nostalgia with powerful emotional intensity.
