Concluding the winter season, the Kalnciema Quarter Gallery will hold an exhibition by artist Dina Danosa titled "Homo Ludens" from February 5 to 28. The exhibition opening will take place on February 5 at 6:00 PM, admission is free.

The exhibition "Homo Ludens" explores play as a model of life — as a system of rules, randomness, and choice, in which a person is simultaneously both a player and a piece on the board, revealing attempts to find meaning in changing circumstances.

In this cycle of watercolors and porcelain works, the motif of play emerges as a mechanism of culture, thought, and self-discovery. The exhibition is conceived as an abstract, conditional indication of play – a series of works based on a five-year study by the artist, suggesting that play be viewed as a way of life in conditions of uncertainty, contradictions, and randomness.

The visual language of the exhibition intertwines various gaming motifs and structures — from the logic of chess and board games to rituals and absurd situations, resonating with the world of "Through the Looking-Glass" by Lewis Carroll. Life here is closer to Carroll's mad chess games than to ordinary black-and-white schemes of choice. Familiar plans collapse, rules change, and the viewer enters a space where the logical and illogical coexist, revealing life as a continuous game without clear instructions or right answers...

The Kalnciema Quarter Gallery is open for free every weekday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM; the gallery is closed on Sundays.
