The first images featuring the stars of the upcoming four-part film 'The Beatles' by Sam Mendes in the roles of the band members have appeared online. The photographs were released as postcards at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, a school founded with the involvement of Paul McCartney. This was reported by The Guardian.
Paul Mescal as McCartney is dressed in a suit and sports a hairstyle characteristic of the band's early period, and is apparently set in the interior of the Cavern Club, where the musicians' career began. John Lennon, portrayed by Harris Dickinson, wears round glasses that became the vocalist's trademark after filming Richard Lester's 'How I Won the War.' Barry Keoghan, who will play Ringo Starr, is depicted in a polka-dot shirt and has a thick mustache, while George Harrison, embodied by Joseph Quinn, has long hair and a beard that the musician adopted closer to the end of the band's existence.
The institute announced that it had hidden numbered limited-edition collectible postcards throughout the building and encouraged students to find them. Additionally, footage from the film has appeared on the official social media pages of the band and the film.
Director Sam Mendes announced the project under the working title 'The Beatles – A Cinematic Event in Four Films' in 2024. The release of all four films is scheduled for April 2028.
