Guillermo del Toro is preparing a full-length 'Frankenstein': the new version will show everything that was left out

The director announced an extended cut of his film that will reveal his vision and add cut scenes, allowing fans to see the story in its entirety.

Guillermo del Toro is already working on a special version of his 'Frankenstein', tentatively titled 'All the Seams'. The director confirmed this at the Sundance Festival during the screening of his previous film 'Cronos'. According to him, the new version will be 'significantly fuller' and will allow viewers to immerse themselves in the film as the author originally intended.

The current film version runs for about 2 hours and 30 minutes, but the extended cut could approach three hours. It will include previously deleted scenes, including a seven-minute segment that del Toro removed at the suggestion of his mentor James Cameron. The director also mentioned other cut moments that are likely to return in the new edit.

Details about the release date and format remain unknown. It is likely that the extended version may appear both on streaming platforms and on physical media — Blu-ray or DVD.

It is worth noting that 'Frankenstein' has already received critical acclaim and was nominated for nine Academy Awards, including 'Best Picture', 'Best Adapted Screenplay', 'Best Supporting Actor', 'Best Makeup and Hairstyling', 'Best Costume Design', 'Best Music', 'Best Cinematography', 'Best Production Design', and 'Best Sound'.
