On February 4, the Bristol theater Theatre West will present the play 'Hand in Hand with Angels' at the Gertrude Street Theatre.

Theatre West in Bristol is one of the leading theater companies in England. Working with a variety of writers and artists, it creates an environment for developing creative skills and producing innovative works in the field of theater arts.

Over the past 30 years, the theater has staged more than 150 new works, and in 2024 Theatre West became one of four associate companies of Bristol Old Vic — one of the theater centers in the UK, confirming its important role in the cultural life of England.

The theater has long maintained close ties with Latvia. The company first visited Latvia in 1996, and since then has toured the country multiple times, performing in Liepaja, Jelgava, Valmiera, Jekabpils, Gulbene, and Kuldiga.

The creators of the play 'Hand in Hand with Angels' describe it as a tense, gripping drama that unfolds a few hours after a reckless robbery. Two criminals pass the time in a hideout, waiting for further instructions from their criminal bosses; their only companion is a large bag full of money. As night falls and whiskey flows, paranoia, superstition, and the possibility of seeing the angel of death threaten to destroy their fragile alliance.

The premiere of the play took place in 1997. It was the first play written in collaboration with the theater company by playwright Mike Aikers. In honor of its 35th anniversary, Theatre West created a new version of the production of 'Hand in Hand with Angels.' Aikers adapted the work for a modern audience.

The main roles are played by Paul Mohan, Tim Pryors, and Mike Aikers.
