Halibut producers in Alaska have united in a non-profit organization called the Alaska Wild Seafood Association (WASA) to promote their products. This is reported by Seafoodsourcе.
The main task of the new association is to develop and promote the brand of Alaskan halibut in both domestic and international markets. The association conducts an analysis of the global halibut market, studies consumer preferences in the U.S. and Europe, and develops strategies for promoting this product. Primarily, it plans to work with those who are not yet familiar with halibut, according to the information in the announcement.
The association includes major companies such as Fishermen’s Finest, North Star Fishing, Ocean Peace, O’Hara Corporation, and U.S. Seafoods, as well as American Seafoods and Glacier Fish Company. The president of Glacier Fish Company, Jim Johnson, has been appointed as the head of WASA.
The announcement emphasizes that Alaska holds leading positions in the world for halibut catch.
