Why Do Cats Hate Closed Doors?

Many have probably observed that cats really dislike closed doors. They try to open them with their paws, meowing anxiously in the process. Why does this happen?

According to specialists, both evolution and pet owners are to blame, reports LiveScience.

Partly, this happens because cats are curious and do not want to miss something important. As cat behavior consultant I. Johnson noted in an interview with the publication, fluffy creatures need to control what happens in their territory.

Moreover, the furry ones do not realize that a previously accessible place is suddenly taken away from them. Thus, by restricting their pets' space, owners stress them out.

As Johnson stated, to reduce their pets' anxiety, owners need to maintain consistency in the areas of the home that are accessible to their cats. Therefore, if, for example, an owner does not want their pet in the kitchen, they must always restrict access to it, not just when they are there.
