Psychologist Olivia Koss noted that a key aspect of self-love is the ability to put one's own interests first and establish personal boundaries.
In her opinion, in the pursuit of social recognition, many people harm their own comfort. However, when a person truly loves themselves, they realize that it is impossible to please everyone. The expert emphasized that the ability to say “no” is not a manifestation of selfishness, but, on the contrary, is a sign of self-love.
“If you prioritize taking care of yourself — that is a sign of self-respect. Selfishness, on the other hand, is when you think only of yourself. Sometimes you need to be unpopular with others in order to be good to yourself,” the specialist added.
