Sleeping on your stomach negatively affects a person's health. This position places significant strain on the body, claims British doctor Tony Nalda from the Scoliosis Reduction Center.
According to him, sleeping on your stomach can lead to heart problems and lower back pain.
“This sleeping position can make deep breathing difficult as it compresses the diaphragm. By putting pressure on the chest, you complicate blood circulation. Moreover, sleeping on your stomach creates additional pressure on the spine, which can potentially lead to strain on the vertebrae and the surrounding muscles,” the expert's words are reported by The Mirror.
Additionally, sleeping on your stomach can trigger migraines, pinched nerves, and other neurological issues related to a twisted neck, as well as contribute to the formation of wrinkles on the face.
The specialist noted that sleeping on your side is much healthier. It supports the natural curve of the spine, minimizes stress on the joints, improves heart function, and reduces the likelihood of snoring.
