Saving on Cleaning: How Not to Spend Extra Money on Household Chemicals?

For many store-bought household care products, more affordable analogs can be found from improvised materials.

Window Cleaning

Expensive cleaning products for glass surfaces can be replaced with the following solution:

250 ml of water;
 1 tablespoon of vinegar;
 optionally add 5-10 drops of essential oil to eliminate the smell of vinegar.

This solution effectively tackles greasy stains, leaves no streaks, and smells pleasant when using essential oils. You can also prepare a solution for window cleaning by adding 5-10 drops of ammonia to 1 liter of water. After application, be sure to wipe the surface dry with a cloth to avoid streaks.

Kitchen Cleaner

To get rid of stubborn greasy stains on countertops or kitchen cabinets, use the following remedy:

water – 0.5 liters;
 household soap – 0.5 bar;
 ground hot red pepper – 0.5 tsp.

Grate the soap, pour water over it, and place it on the stove until the shavings dissolve. Then add the pepper and mix thoroughly. After that, you can start cleaning.

There is also a simpler way to combat grease: mix baking soda with water to a paste consistency. Apply it to greasy stains, leave for 10-15 minutes, and then remove with a sponge.

Stove Cleaning

For cleaning the cooktop, you can use baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. First, apply dishwashing liquid (you can choose the cheapest one) to the surface, then sprinkle it with baking soda and optionally add hydrogen peroxide. After that, start cleaning the surface with a soft brush or sponge. Leave the mixture for 5-10 minutes, then rinse with warm water and wipe dry.

Floor Cleaning Solution

To prepare a cleaning solution for the floor, you will need the following ingredients:

liquid soap (1 tablespoon);
 vinegar (50 ml);
 baking soda (50 g);
 warm water (2 liters).

In a bucket, mix the soda, vinegar, and soap, then add water. You will get a foamy solution. After mopping, you can wipe the floor with a dry cloth.

There is another solution that takes more time to prepare. You will need:

salt (2 tablespoons);
 baking soda (2 tablespoons);
 grated soap (2 tablespoons);
 cut spruce branches (pine can be used) or 10-12 drops of essential oil.

Place the branches in a pot and cover with water. Put it on the heat, bring to a boil, cover with a lid, and let it steep for 10-20 minutes. In the meantime, mix the other ingredients and add them to the spruce infusion. Place this mixture in a water bath to dissolve the soap shavings. The resulting solution should be diluted with water (3 tablespoons of the solution per 5 liters of clean water). First, wipe the floor with a mop soaked in the solution, and then with a dry cloth.

By the way

Banana peels can be used to shine leather shoes. Wipe the surface of the shoes with it, and then polish with a soft cloth.
