Household soap is indeed a more suitable option for the skin of a healthy person, but only in the context of regular handwashing.
“It is not recommended to wash the face with either liquid or household soap, as the skin on the face has its own protective covering that can be damaged by soap,” explains dermatologist and cosmetologist Yulia MIKHALYUK.
- Household soap is significantly more effective at fighting microbes, as bacteria do not linger on its surface — they cannot survive in a highly alkaline environment. The higher the percentage of fatty acids indicated on the soap packaging, the better its cleaning properties.
Moreover, household soap does not cause allergic reactions, whereas liquid soap, due to its many chemical additives and fragrances, often becomes a cause of allergies. If a person has sensitive skin, the cleaning properties of household soap can lead to dermatitis.”
