Immunologist and hirudotherapist Natalia Perova noted that dust mites themselves do not pose a threat, but their waste can harm the human body.
According to the specialist, dust mite feces contain digestive enzymes that can break down human skin cells. As a result, the immune system begins to react to these substances.
“The waste products of dust mites can provoke allergic reactions in humans, ranging from rhinitis and conjunctivitis to asthma attacks,” emphasizes the expert.
To combat dust mites, the doctor recommends regularly washing bed linens at high temperatures, thoroughly drying them, and ironing.
