Does climbing stairs really reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases?

Yes, it is.

 

This data is supported by recent research from scientists at Tulane University in the United States, published in the journal Atherosclerosis.

Researchers analyzed information from more than 450,000 adult participants. They were surveyed about their family history of cardiovascular diseases, risk factors, as well as their habits and lifestyle, specifically how often they climb stairs on foot.

Based on the data obtained, the scientists concluded that the risk of cardiovascular diseases decreases by 20% if one climbs at least 50 steps daily.
