There is an opinion that to maintain health, one should drink at least three liters of water a day...
This is a common belief; however, it is incorrect, as medical professionals recommend consuming between one and two liters of water per day, notes gastroenterologist Anna DENISOVA:
“If you are actively engaged in physical activity, it is acceptable to drink two and a half to three liters of water. However, exceeding this volume is contraindicated for patients with cardiovascular diseases, such as heart failure, as well as for individuals prone to swelling in the legs.”
Consuming more than two liters of water a day can be harmful for people with kidney diseases, and in elderly patients, excessive fluid intake can lead to swelling throughout the body.
