Doctor of Medical Sciences, hepatologist, and professor Alexey Buyeverov states: “My words may spark controversy, but the risks of combining antibiotics and some other medications with alcohol are exaggerated.”
— I do not recommend taking medications with alcoholic beverages; however, this does not make antibiotics less effective. The most dangerous medication in this context is regular paracetamol or combined medications containing it (when combined with alcohol, they can lead to serious liver damage).
These medications account for nearly 25% of all severe consequences of drug interactions with alcohol worldwide.
Additionally, alcohol is poorly compatible with metronidazole, psychotropic drugs, and antihistamines.
