Where Did the Name 'Bulgarian' Come From?

Due to the country of manufacture.

The first angle grinders that appeared in the USSR were produced in Bulgaria. The official name of this device — angle grinder — was developed in 1954 by the German company FLEX-Elektrowerkzeuge GmbH, and in many countries, this tool is known as 'flex.'

In the Soviet Union, it began to be used in the 1970s when the Sparky Eltos company in the Bulgarian city of Lovech started producing similar tools.

According to the country of manufacture, this tool became known as the Bulgarian saw, and later simply as 'bulgarika.' This name became popular exclusively in post-Soviet countries.
