What diseases can onions protect against?

Sharing the experience of agronomist Alexander Khorobrovets.

- Onions contain essential oil, which gives them their characteristic aroma and sharp taste. They also contain vitamins and organic acids. Additionally, they are rich in minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, magnesium, and iron.

The phytoncides found in onions not only destroy pathogenic microbes and prevent putrefactive processes in the intestines but also promote the growth and development of body tissues, as well as their recovery.

Onions are used for colds, hypertension, and atherosclerosis. They help lower cholesterol levels in the blood and enhance urination. Onions are also used to treat gout, rheumatism, and as a preventive measure against scurvy.

Just 70 g of green onions fully satisfy the daily requirement of the body for ascorbic acid. Onions are beneficial for acute respiratory diseases, angina, and chronic tonsillitis.

To treat cough, upper respiratory tract catarrh, bronchitis, and hoarseness, the following remedy can be prepared. Onions are finely chopped, sprinkled with sugar, and left in a warm place for several hours. The resulting juice should be taken 3-5 times a day, 1 tablespoon (children should take 1 teaspoon) after meals.

For bronchitis with a dry cough, it is recommended to use grated or minced onions (500 g) mixed with honey (50 g) and sugar (400 g). The mixture is poured with a liter of water and boiled on low heat for three hours. It is stored in a tightly closed container in the refrigerator. Take 2 tablespoons three times a day.

Onions used for making soups are beneficial for people with diabetes.
