Easy and Painless. How to Remove a Stump at the Cottage Without Grinding — 2 Methods

Many likely have stumps on their plots that need to be removed. Most often, gardeners bring special expensive equipment to the cottage or remove the excess by hand with a shovel.

This work is hard, so gardeners have come up with methods that allow them to quickly and effortlessly solve the problem.

Gardener Svetlana Gorodetskaya advises using urea or saltpeter. This is a nitrogen fertilizer that accelerates the decomposition of wood when applied to the stump.

To do this, drill deep notches in the stump and fill them with urea granules. In just one year, nothing will remain of it, only sawdust. You will only need to break the remaining wood with an axe and clean up the debris from the site.

However, this method is not suitable for all areas. If a young tree is growing near the stump, it will die from the saltpeter. Therefore, gardeners use another method in this case.

Trichoderma comes to the rescue. This agent should also be poured into the stump; it will eventually "eat" the wood, leaving nothing after a year. The procedure can be carried out in late autumn, when daytime temperatures are up to +5 degrees Celsius.

Some gardeners also prepare an aqueous solution. For this, two teaspoons of trichoderma are diluted in 10 liters of water (but be sure to check the instructions, your product may differ). Add two tablespoons of sugar to activate the spores.

The resulting solution is thoroughly poured over the stump and the soil around it. This method will not harm nearby trees.

By the way, do not throw away the sawdust; it can be added to compost to accelerate decomposition. In the end, you will get double benefits.
