The largest pumpkin in Latvia has been chosen – it can feed one and a half thousand people

In the competition for the title of the largest pumpkin in Latvia this year, the pumpkin of Gundega Neimane from the Kuldiga region won – its weight was 295 kilograms, the organizers of the competition reported to bb.lv.

If the winning pumpkin is cut into portions of 200 grams, it can feed almost 1,500 people.

The second place was taken by Santa Dambe from Kuldiga with a pumpkin weighing 267 kilograms, and the third place went to Eliza Neimane, whose pumpkin weighed 231 kilograms.

Pumpkins grown by young Latvian gardeners from the organization "Latvijas Mazpulki" were evaluated separately. The first place in this category was awarded to Arta Petzala with a pumpkin weighing 3.47 kg.

It was previously reported that 39 pumpkins from 15 regions of Latvia were submitted for the competition.

So far, the heaviest pumpkin in the history of the Latvian championship weighed 574 kilograms – this record was set in 2018 in the Kuldiga region, also grown by Luiza Neimane.
