The agronomist explained what summer residents need to plant before winter

Autumn for summer residents means preparing for the future harvest. To get early sprouts a couple of weeks earlier than usual in spring, it is important to complete the winter sowing. This way, the plants will undergo hardening and delight gardeners with vitamin sprouts. This was stated by biologist and agronomist Mikhail Vorobyov.

In early October, the specialist recommends planting garlic, taking into account the climate. Over the winter, the crops will strengthen, and bulbs will form. Then, with the onset of frost, one can start sowing greens and some root vegetables. An important condition is to sow in cold soil, the expert noted.

"If you sow in warm soil, they will start to sprout, and the frosts will destroy the future greens," he added.

Be prepared for the loss of some seeds — only the strongest will remain, however, their germination may increase by about 15%, the agronomist observes. He also urged summer residents not to plant the same related crops in the same soil consecutively to avoid the accumulation of pests and diseases and to prevent soil depletion.

After potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants, it is recommended to plant onions, garlic, carrots, dill, parsley, celery, spinach, beets, radishes, salads, and mustard. Usually, nightshades deplete the soil, so after them, greens and root vegetables grow better, the specialist explained. After cucumbers, zucchini, and pumpkins — garlic, onions, radishes, dill, parsley, spinach, all types of salads, carrots, and beets; after cabbage — again carrots and beets. It is not advisable to plant onions and garlic consecutively in the same soil — they may have closely related diseases. It is also better to avoid sowing carrots after greens and beets after spinach.

As for flowers, in early October, it is recommended to plant tulips — they are often planted together with garlic. This period is also suitable for planting daffodils and lilies.
