In Belarus, a family quarrel in the Pinsk district ended in death, reports the State Committee for Forensic Examinations.
A 40-year-old local resident came home drunk and demanded dinner from his wife. At that moment, there was no prepared food in the house. This led to a scandal between the spouses. Ultimately, the man took a piece of raw meat from the refrigerator and bit into it. He suddenly began to choke and fell down.
Arriving medical personnel pronounced the man dead.
A forensic examination has been appointed to determine the cause of death. It was established that he died from mechanical asphyxia, choking on a piece of meat. A chemical examination revealed that the man had ethyl alcohol in his blood at a concentration of 3.1 per mille, which typically corresponds to a severe degree of acute intoxication due to alcohol consumption.
Experts note that most cases of death resulting from airway obstruction by food are recorded in individuals who are intoxicated due to impaired coordination of chewing and swallowing processes.
