On October 4, Christians honor the memory of the apostle of the 70 — Kondrat of Athens. The saint witnessed the crucifixion of Christ and his miraculous resurrection.
The apostle was a preacher in Greece, and once during a sermon, he was brutally stoned. After that, he ended up in prison, where he died of hunger.
This day also commemorates the lives of the holy martyrs Ipatiy and Andrey, who suffered for their faith in the 8th century, and the finding of the relics of St. Dimitry, Metropolitan of Rostov (1651–1709).
Children, orphans, and those in need ask for the intercession of St. Dimitry of Rostov. A moleben ordered to the saint will help heal lung diseases. In ancient times, on this day, healers treated the chests of nursing mothers.
Weather Omens
The weather on this day can predict what the upcoming month will be like. Clear weather and wind indicate a cold winter. If there are few mushrooms in the forest but many nuts, the winter will be frosty and snowy.
