Many gardeners want the herbs grown in their garden to stay fresh for as long as possible, as they are aromatic, tasty, and healthy.
Experienced gardeners know a little-known method that allows you to keep green onions, parsley, and dill fresh all winter long.
There is no need to freeze the herbs. It is enough to rinse the green onion stalks under water and dry them. Then we cut the onions into rings. When the entire bunch is chopped, we take a half-liter clean jar and salt.
Next, it’s simple: we pour a small layer of salt at the bottom of the jar, and then lay a layer of onions on top. We continue to fill the container to the top this way.
These layers can be alternated with parsley or dill. This way, you get a “green” assortment that stores well all winter.
The onions, having sat in the salt, will become salty, but they can be rinsed with water before consumption.
