Doctor Myasnikov: Greens Can Be Dangerous for People with Kidney Stones

General practitioner and cardiologist Alexander Myasnikov explained in which cases the consumption of greens may be contraindicated.

 

Leafy green vegetables are considered one of the healthiest foods in a person's diet, as they are a rich source of antioxidants, vitamins, and trace elements. However, as Doctor Myasnikov noted, only healthy individuals can consume greens without concerns.

When can greens be harmful?

Taking warfarin. Doctor Myasnikov emphasized that when using anticoagulants, one should be particularly cautious with greens.

Myasnikov highlighted foods that contribute to the formation of kidney stones

«Cilantro, spinach, parsley, and other types of greens contain vitamin K, which can neutralize the effects of these medications, leading to a decrease in their effectiveness».

Kidney stones. If a patient is diagnosed with urolithiasis, the presence of greens in the diet can be harmful. According to Alexander Myasnikov, due to the high content of vitamin K found in greens, the process of stone formation in people with this condition may be exacerbated.
