Doctors Revealed the Harmful Properties of Familiar Healthy Foods

Some foods considered healthy require a cautious approach, said the authoritative British nutrition expert Charlotte Stirling-Reed. She unexpectedly revealed the dangerous properties of such products.

 

Among the list of unsafe but popular products compiled by the expert are, in particular, dried fruits. They are often used as snacks or dessert substitutes; however, in terms of calories, they can compete with candies. It is important to remember that although dried fruits are made from fruits, they lack moisture, making them a source of highly concentrated sugars – fructose and glucose. Consuming such products can lead to weight gain, tooth decay, and liver problems, the specialist noted.

Also high in sugar is orange juice, which many mistakenly consider healthy for breakfast. Unlike whole fruits, juice is absorbed much faster, which can cause sharp spikes in blood sugar levels, increasing the risk of diabetes, disrupting appetite mechanisms, and contributing to overeating.

Surprisingly, the nutrition expert urged caution regarding whole grain bread, as it also significantly raises blood sugar levels.

As for honey, Charlotte Stirling-Reed recommended consuming it only during colds. It contains many bioactive components and is essentially a medicinal product rather than a regular food item, the specialist assures.
