Frittata with Ham — An Appetizing Italian Breakfast

Sometimes for breakfast you want something more filling than just a cup of aromatic coffee or tea. We offer you an interesting recipe for an omelet known in Italy and Spain as frittata. This dish can be prepared both in a frying pan and in the oven. Frittata can be made from any ingredients available in the refrigerator, allowing you to enjoy a new taste each time.

 

Ingredients:

eggs - 4 pcs.
ham - 100 g.
boiled potatoes - 300 g. (3-4 pcs.)
onion - 1 pc.
bell pepper - 1 pc.
hard cheese - 100 g.
ground paprika - 0.5 tsp.
Herbes de Provence - 0.5 tsp.
salt - to taste
black pepper - to taste
vegetable oil - for frying

Preparation:

1. First, chop all the necessary ingredients for the omelet. The onion should be sliced into thin half-rings, and the sweet pepper should be cut into small strips. The ham should also be diced.

2. Today we are making an omelet Spanish style. Its distinctive feature is that boiled potatoes are used in the recipe, which should be cut into small pieces. Grate the hard cheese on a fine grater. Now we can move on to preparing the omelet.

3. In a deep bowl, crack 4 eggs, add salt and black pepper to taste, as well as 0.5 tsp. of Herbes de Provence and 0.5 tsp. of paprika. Using a whisk, beat thoroughly until smooth. Then add the diced ham, mix, and set aside.
In a frying pan, pour in a little vegetable oil, add the onion, and sauté until soft for 2-3 minutes. Then add the sweet pepper and continue to sauté for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

4. Next, add the boiled potatoes, mix, and sauté the vegetables for no more than 5 minutes. After that, add salt and black pepper to taste and turn off the heat. Spread the sautéed vegetables evenly in a baking dish.

5. Pour the egg mixture with ham over the vegetables and evenly distribute the grated cheese on top. Now place it in the oven to bake. Preheat the oven without the rack. Glass and ceramic dishes should be at the same temperature as the rack.

6. Bake the omelet with vegetables in a preheated oven at 190 degrees for 15 minutes.

7. The frittata is ready! Remove it from the oven and serve it directly in the dish. Optionally, you can sprinkle with chopped parsley. Frittata with ham and vegetables is a simple, delicious, and hearty breakfast dish. This omelet can also be made with mushrooms, broccoli, various types of cheese, bacon, or meat.
