ENT doctor Irina Grigorieva explained why one should not refuse ice cream, even if symptoms of angina are present, especially in the summer.
Many people suffering from chronic angina avoid ice cream. However, according to the doctor, there are no reasonable grounds for such restrictions.
The reasons for this are excessive caution and the lack of adaptation of the throat receptors to cold products. Achieving this adaptation requires simple hardening.

“Cold does not have a direct effect on the throat microflora. That is, if you have group A beta-hemolytic streptococcus in your throat, a recurrence of angina can occur even in the summer, regardless of whether you ate ice cream,” explains the specialist.
Hardening the throat should be done gradually, increasing the temperature of food and drinks to the level of the freezer. This process can take several weeks or even months.
The doctor also emphasizes that many do not take into account the mild analgesic effect that cold ice cream can have on an inflamed throat. Thus, moderate consumption of ice cream can even be beneficial during a viral infection.
Those who suffer from chronic tonsillitis are aware of this and often use this simple method for temporary relief of symptoms.
