The gastroenterologist named soups that negatively affect health

Some types of soups can negatively affect digestion, figure, and appearance. For example, mushroom soup can be too heavy for the stomach.

Is it beneficial to have soup for lunch?

Soup is the foundation of lunch, our grandmothers insisted, urging us to eat a bowl. In their opinion, failing to do so could lead to stomach issues, nausea, and memory deterioration. However, as gastroenterologist Pavel Koltupov notes, similar health problems can arise from the frequent consumption of certain soups.

The expert highlighted several soups that have the most noticeable negative impact on health.

Mushroom soup. Digestion of mushrooms can be challenging, especially if the soup contains a lot of potatoes, pasta, grated cheese, and fatty salted croutons. Such a meal may leave a person bedridden for at least a couple of hours for recovery. Additionally, it should be noted that the protein in mushrooms is poorly absorbed. If you want to make mushroom soup, it is better to avoid adding grains, pasta, and large amounts of cheese. The fewer ingredients, the tastier and healthier it will be.

Pea soup. Peas and other legumes can cause flatulence and bloating. These symptoms are exacerbated if smoked ribs are added to the soup, as is done in the classic recipe. To reduce discomfort, it is recommended to add plenty of fresh herbs, especially dill and basil, which positively affect the functioning of the stomach and intestines.

Sour cabbage soup. Despite the many health benefits of sauerkraut, it is not suitable for everyone, even in soup form. The doctor recommends that people with gastrointestinal issues avoid sour cabbage soup.

Solanka. The main “culprits” in this soup are processed meats and pickles. After a serving of such a hearty soup, blood pressure may rise, swelling may increase, and a headache will persist until medication is taken.
