The doctor highlighted natural products whose frequent consumption can negatively affect health and figure.
Why should you not overindulge in fruits?
Nutritionist Olga Dalakova warns that not all natural gifts can be eaten every day, especially in large quantities.
- Most juicy fruits contain simple sugars such as sucrose, glucose, and fructose. Excessive consumption can worsen health, for example, disrupt metabolism, - notes the specialist.
Consume them every other day
The nutritionist highlighted five fruits and berries that should not be eaten daily.
Bananas. These fruits are tasty and nutritious; however, they contain a lot of carbohydrates and potassium. Frequent consumption can lead to weight gain and cardiovascular problems. An excess of beneficial microelements can be as harmful as their deficiency.
Grapes. In moderation, these berries can protect against digestive issues, improve vision, and prevent cancer development. However, excessive consumption of grapes can lead to a visit to the dentist. According to Dalakova, the juicy pulp contains many acids that destroy tooth enamel. To avoid problems, it is recommended to rinse your mouth with water after eating grapes, or better yet — brush your teeth. Additionally, grape lovers can gain up to 5 kilograms of excess weight in a month.
Grapefruit. This fruit is rich in vitamin C and low in calories, so overeating it won't lead to extra pounds. However, it can exacerbate issues with the gastrointestinal tract, liver, or kidneys. The expert advises not to eat grapefruit more than 2-3 times a week.
Lemon. Like other citrus fruits, lemon can erode tooth enamel with daily consumption. This applies even to lemon water. Therefore, do not forget to rinse your mouth after consuming lemon or lemon drinks.
Watermelon. Research by Polish scientists has shown that regular long-term consumption of watermelons can lead to diarrhea, which in turn can result in a dangerous condition — dehydration. Additionally, people with kidney problems or diabetes are advised not to eat watermelon frequently and in large quantities.
