The medical specialist explained why it is important to strictly control the consumption of sweets.

 

Why does excess sugar negatively affect health?

When considering dietary adjustments and limiting sweets in their diet, many people rely on a single argument — candies and desserts ruin teeth and figure. However, in reality, the negative impact of such products on human health is much broader.

According to gastroenterologist Daria Kharitonova, sugar, both in products and in its pure form, causes rapid habituation and real addiction. Not everyone can get rid of it, and not always on the first try. Nevertheless, it is not advisable to leave everything to chance. The consequences of constant sweet consumption are extremely negative for health, even for those who have never complained about excess weight or breathing problems.

The doctor emphasizes that the most serious problems due to sugar arise in:

* the intestines. Due to excess sugar, dangerous bacteria rapidly multiply in the intestines, leading to bloating, diarrhea, and other ailments. Moreover, pathogenic organisms can penetrate from the gastrointestinal tract into other organs, causing more serious problems, for example, triggering the development of Alzheimer's disease.

* the nervous system. Studies show that excessive sugar consumption can provoke mental disorders and reduce stress resistance. Sweet lovers often feel tired as early as in the morning — about half an hour after breakfast.

* the hormonal system. Most sweet lovers have skin prone to inflammation, peeling, and acne.

- However, the greatest danger of sweets lies in the fact that one quickly becomes accustomed to them. Gradually, this turns into a strong need — for something tasty and caloric. But even if you treat yourself to a piece of cake or a couple of candies, this does not solve the problem. The feeling of fullness quickly passes, and the desire to eat something else arises again, - notes the doctor.

According to her, the only reasonable way to get rid of sugar addiction is to replace candies, chocolates, and other sweets with sweet fruits. For example, dried fruits, which are also sweet but contain many beneficial substances. Moreover, the feeling of fullness after them lasts significantly longer.
