In recent years, pineapple has often been mentioned as a product that accelerates the fat breakdown process and makes weight loss more effective. Dietitian Antonina Starodubova discussed the beneficial properties of this fruit and the quantities in which it should be consumed.

 

Antonina Starodubova notes that pineapple is indeed a beneficial product, rich in a variety of nutrients. It contains B vitamins, beta-carotene, zinc, iodine, calcium, magnesium, as well as fiber and organic acids.

“Fiber positively affects the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, improves lipid metabolism, which in turn may contribute to weight loss. It is also worth noting that pineapple contains the enzyme bromelain, which helps break down protein foods. It has anti-inflammatory properties and improves the absorption of other nutrients,” emphasizes Antonina Starodubova.

Despite all its beneficial qualities, the expert highlights that no fat-burning effect from pineapples has been recorded.

The dietitian warns against expecting this fruit to be a “magic pill” that allows for weight loss without changes in diet.

“The composition of pineapple impresses with its variety of essential nutrients, and it has low caloric content, but its consumption should be limited. It is recommended to eat no more than 250-300 grams of the fruit per day. Exceeding this norm may lead to bloating, digestive issues, and increased gas production. Additionally, the exotic fruit may cause allergic reactions,” warns Antonina Starodubova.

For maximum benefit, Antonina Starodubova advises consuming pineapples in fresh or freshly frozen form, as they lose some vitamins and beneficial substances during canning.
