For eight years, researchers from Pennsylvania studied the dietary habits of over 37,000 people, focusing on the bioactive substances found in berries.
During the study, specialists found that catechins (an organic compound) and flavonoids (a group of plant polyphenols) present in strawberries, cranberries, and blueberries contribute to strengthening the immune system and improving overall health.
Researchers also discovered that cranberries reduce the risk of premature death by 31%, strawberries by 14%, and blueberries by 21%.
